Greetings. My name is Joanna. I’ve had a passion for technology since I was very young. My professional work and interest have always fallen at the intersection of technology and human psychology.

My deepest enjoyment is when design solves human problems. From a virtual escape room connecting and engaging people in-person to an MRI machine that can save lives.

In the early days of the internet, I experimented with usability design and multi-computer processing. While I’ve been involved in UX experimentation well before, it was a formal discipline. To use a quote from Isaac Newton,

“If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.”

I have drawn inspiration from the likes of Jakob Nielsen, Don Norman, and Philip Emeagwali. As they stood on the foundation laid by Alan Turing, Chai Keong Toh, Linus Torvalds, and many others.

Since the late 90’s, I’ve been involved in teaching outside of the traditional classroom. I believe strongly in intellectual emancipation, a concept modeled off Jacques Rancière’s philosophy. And elaborated effectively in an article in The Atlantic. My feeling is that every human is endowed with both reason and the capacity for critical review of information.

People learn by doing, and it’s only outside of textbooks and classrooms that people can develop a firm grasp of a topic. When if comes to used experience, the world is the lab, and every coffee shop is an opportunity to study human interaction.

As a consulting I focus on helping clients find the right human concentric technology solutions. My approach combines strategic & analytical thinking and over 30 years of domain expertise in technology to deliver solutions for customers. I have a strong understanding of software engineering principles and have worked on projects involving PCI, HIPAA, cloud, and IoT technologies.

I’m versed in project management methodologies, including Lean, Agile, and Six Sigma. I’ve also worked in information systems security and network engineering.

My consulting is limited to project groups that titillate several areas of my expertise and can drive not only business value but may also help make the world a bit better. A bit more usable. Working with companies like Cloudflare, AMD, Duolingo, and the top UX agency Push ROI, is enough to make sure I wake up every morning with a feeling of purpose and a belief that I’m making the world better.

Human-Centered Design and Technology Consulting Greetings.
