Working through scenarios.
Imagining possible situations and working through your reactions, your options, and your desired outcomes is a good way to develop your skills and awareness.
For example, imagine this.
A staff member, someone you manage, says something like this to you...
"The previous manager never asked me to do that!"Answer the following questions for yourself -
- How might you react?
- What would you like to achieve here?
- What would you need to do to achieve that? What are your options?
If you can get a friend to go through it with you, you can practice this or any other scenario. Choose one that might make you anxious, or something that has already happened to you that you'd like to review; or you can select from the scenarios 2 page.
