Longing for silence

 

The street noise was exhausting her.

 

                                                                                     

Even the chatter of her students began to feel oppressive, and she wished they would be silent, as she was increasingly herself.

 

The more she succeeded in her work, the more she found her voice disappearing, until it was so far gone that she was unable to teach.

 

She longed for a refuge. She asked her grandfather to help her, before the children came home from their boarding schools for good.

 

Grandfather invited her to stay in a small hotel near to his tiny house, and to spend some healing days with him. Susan set off with a happy hope that this would bring her comfort.
