The Henwoman Story                         instructions here if you need them

a cautionary tale

The story begins...

A young woman called Susan once lived for a time in a land far from her home, in a clearing in the mountain forest where her handsome husband was a forester. They grew their own vegetables and kept hens.

The people around Susan were not very friendly, and she missed her children who had been sent to boarding school. Even so she believed herself to be happy, and knew that she was lucky to have a handsome husband who loved her. Everyone told her so.

Her husband was very happy in his work, and she loved the place where they lived which was very beautiful. Colobus monkeys swung in freedom from tree to tree as Susan watched from the veranda of the bungalow.

She loved working in the vegetable garden and looking after the hens.

When she fed the hens she would sit in the hen-run for a time, noticing the ways they foraged and clucked to each other.
